Haemorrhagic Transformation

• This should be suspected in any patient whose neurological condition deteriorates within two weeks of an acute event.
• Antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy should be withheld and urgent repeat CT scanning undertaken.
• If haemorrhagic transformation has occurred discussion should take place with the stroke consultant regarding recommencing antiplatelet / anticoagulant therapy.
