3 peripheral blood cultures from separate venepunctures, taken minimum 20 minutes apart

Sampling is dependent on other risk factors, e.g. for endocarditis, line infection, catheter-associated UTI (CAUTI), infection of prosthetic material.

Take additional samples as advised in the respective sections.
